Vineeth Biography

Vineeth is better known as the classical dancer of South Indian movies. He is a trained classical dancer and has done numerous movies as a dancer. A few of such movies that can be added in the list are Kamaladalam, Idanazhiyiloru kaalocha, Chandramukhi, Bhool Bhulayya, Kanyakumariyil oru kavitha, Parinayam, Banaras, Harihar nagar 2 and  a few more.

He was a talented classical dancer from his childhood and has won many prizes including Kalathilakam that give him the direct pass to Malayalam movies. He debut through Edanilangal in 1985. But he was noted for his performance in M.T’s Nakashathangal – a musical journey. In this movie, songs composed by Bombay Ravi he was paired opposite Monisha, the movie which won her the tag of youngest receiver of National awards in female category. The success of Vineeth-Monisha pair prompted directors to cast them again in many movies. This pair continued to work together till an accident took her away in 1992. Their movies as pair include Kanakambarangal and Kamaladalam. He was the hero of successful movie ‘Sargam’ through which Ramba debut film industry. That time her name was Amrita and they were paired again for successful movie ‘Champakulam Thachan’.

In many movies Vineeth acted as the junior of Mohanlal. Amritham gamaya, Kamala dalam, Namakku parkaam munthiri thoppukal, Usthad and Vadukkumnathan are among those movies. In fact, Vineeth was to work as the classical singer in milestone movie, Manichitrathazhu of Mohal lal-Fazil team. But due to non-availability of dates it couldn’t happen. But when this movie was remade to Tamil, Hindi and Kannada, Vineeth get the opportunity to play this role and dance with the heroine in the song sequence of climax. Perhaps it’s one among the best roles, for which Vineeth is remembered most. Those movies are Chandramukhi, Bhool Bhulayya and Aaptamitra.  

His romantic song of the Malayalam movie ‘Idanazhiyiloru Kaalocha’ pictured on himself and Karthika is still considered as one among the best ever green romantic song of Malayalam. This song is remembered for its lovely lyrics, music as well as super capture of Karthika-Vineeth pair in Bharatnatam dancing steps. Songs of his movies Nakakshatangal, Sargam and Perumazhakalam are also very famous.

Though he has good classical base, he didn’t proved to be a successful solo hero on which producers can trust. Majority of his hit movies were multi-starrer star cast or his role as supporting hero. Movies like Kathal desam, Banaras, sargam, Nakhashathangal, Usthad, Kalapani, Kabuliwala, Gazal, Avarampoo, Kamaladalam and Oru muthassi katha need special mention. Vineeth is the nephew of famous Travancore sisters – Lalitha, Ragini and Padmini and cousin of Shobana. Sukumari also belongs to his family. That’s the reason why art and dance are in veins!
