Jagathy – one among the most versatile actors of Malayalam is a gifted talent without whom Malayalam industry can never think about. He started his acting career through Chattambi Kalyani and after a lot of struggles, gained a position in Malayalam movies, not easily achievable by someone else.  He has acted in more than 1100 Malayalam movies, adding all flavours to its scenes. Though he has handled every type of roles with 100% perfectness he is remembered most for his comic roles. He along with Innocent has created great waves in comedy of Malayalam movies as well as stage shows. He has written scripts to a few hit movies as well, thus known to be one among the most versatile personalities of Mollywood.

Born in Jagathy of the capital city as the son of notable script writer and dramatist N.K.Achari, he bought wide fame to this place. Though Jagathy is a place name, it’s most used for naming this most popular comedy actor of Malayalam silver screen. He has played a pivotal role in shaping Mohanlal’s career. Mohanlal-Jagathy team has been a successful pair from early 90’s and many directors have used this pair wisely to create new box office hits. A few of these pairs include Kilukkam and Minnaram directed by Priyadarshan and Yoddha directed by Sangeeth Sivam. Hello, Thalavattam, Pingami and Madambi -List is too long! If someone asks who the most popular actor of Malayalam is after the megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal, without hesitation anyone can easily take Jagathy’s name. He has given distinct fingerprints in almost every scene he has acted for.

In addition to comic roles he has played in countless movies, he has done serious roles in the last few years. Classmates, Thiruvambadi Thamban, Cassinova, Manjadikuru, Baba Kalyani, Palungu, Thanmatra – it’s not at all easy to list his movie names.  On March 12, 2012 he was seriously injured in a car accident and was in coma stage. Whole film world is praying for his comeback. Now he is showing signs of recovery and we hope, we will get that old energetic ‘Jagathy’ back. Jagathy married thrice. Shobha is his third wife and they are gifted with 3 kids and grand kids.
