Amitabh Bachchan was the superstar of Hindi film industry and has acted in more than 180 films. His career spreads over 40 years and has 14 Filmfare awards and four National Awards to his credit. Some of his films are valued even today and are considered to be evergreen hits. His earliest movie Sholay which was released in the year 1975 was a mega hit. It was called as the film of the millennium by BBC and in 2005, Indiatimes has placed it in one among the top twenty five must see films. The film is about the revenge of a police officer who has lost his family. Gabbar Singh is a bandit and has killed the family of the policeman and the officer recruits Jai and Veeru, the two criminals to take revenge on Gabbar Singh. The film moves to say if he is successful in his venture. Amitabh took the part of Jai, one of the criminals who help the police officer.

In 1978, Amitabh Bachchan created a buzz through his movie Don. He performed the dual roles of Don and that of Vijay who resembles Don. Don was killed by a policeman D’Silva and no one else except the policeman knows this secret. He appoints innocent Vijay who resembles Don to act like Don to disband his gang. Finally the officer is killed and the truth about Vijay is in the diary which is destroyed. The revelation comes in the end and Vijay is released as innocent and he goes back to his old life.

Amitabh Bachchan acted as Johny in the film Naseeb which is full of destiny and fate. This film was remade in many languages. Four friends, Namdev, Damu, Raghu and Jaggi get a lottery ticket and this ticket wins the prize. Damu and Raghu treacherously kill Jaggi and Namdev, but Namdev escapes. Damu and Raghu build a big hotel and earn millions. Johny the son of Namdev is employed by them. He and his friend Vicky, the son of Damu love Asha. His brother Sunny loves the sister of Asha named Kim. They come to know that they both are the daughters of Jaggi. Namdev comes back to take his revenge. The fate plays in their lives and the film is all about the sentiments related to love, revenge and sacrifice.

In the second phase of Amitabh Bachchan, Sarkar could be said as one of the important films. He and his son Abhishek Bachchan both performed together as father and son in this film. In this dramatic thriller that was released in the year 2005, Amitabh has two sons. The first one is into bad ways and runs after women. Amitabh fights for justice and helps people with the support of his henchmen. Abhishek comes from abroad and believes in the righteousness of his father. He loses his lover due to this but he is strong in his faith. He defends his father and protects him from his enemies. Finally he takes the place of his father and starts helping people who are in need.

Paa is a notable film in the history of Indian film industry. Amitabh Bachchan played the part of Auro, a small boy affected by a genetic disorder. He looks physically old but mentally young due to this disease. Vidya Balan performed the role of his mother. His own son Abhishek Bachchan acted as his father in the film. Auro makes attempts to unite his father and mother who are living separately before he dies.
