Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor – the most successful female siblings of Bollywood! Both of them were born into the famous filmy Kapoor family and none of the girls have even dared to step into silver screen before them. Though Sanjana Kapoor, daughter of actor Shashi Kapoor was the first female to step into acting field, it was Karishma who got success as an actress. Karishma was one of the top rated actresses of 1990s. Now her younger sister Kareena continues her legacy and reached 100 crore club with movies like 3 Idiots and Singham returns. No doubt, Kareena achieved more success than her elder sister and has remained in the top since her Bollywood debut in 2000.

Kareena’ elder sister debut Bollywood about one decade ago. She was only 16 when Prem Quaidi was released in 1991. Though the movie was a hit, Karishma had to struggle a lot to find her space in Bollywood. From village belle roles, Karishma moved to glamorous roles and tasted success after her successful association with Govinda for a series of comedy masalas like Hero no 1, Coolie no 1, Raja babu etc. She was paired for the first time with Aamir Khan for Raja Hindustani in 1996 and the rest is history. She emerged as the no.1 heroine of Bollywood and she was the most busy star of 1997.

She accepted the supporting role of Nisha in Dil to pagal hai, the role rejected by many leading heroines including Juhi Chawla. Among the three stars of movie – SRK, Madhuri and Karishma, the person who stole the show was the heartbroken ‘Nisha’. She received numerous awards including Filmfare and National award and this role is regarded as her career best. Fiza and Zubeidaa are other memorable roles of her career. After 2000, she reduced her work and got settled. It was at the same time when Kareena Kapoor entered film world. Since her debut movie ‘Refugee’, Kareena has remained in limelight. Expectations were high also.

With patience and talent, Kareena slowly emerged as the top actress of Bollywood. After a series of flops, ‘Jab we met’ proved to be her breakthrough and since then there is no turning back. She has been a part of the big hit – 3 Idiots and Golmaal series. Kareena excelled in dancing apart from acting and owns many chartbuster songs pictured on her since her debut movie – Refugee. Though both these actresses have excelled in their skills, audience still waits for a movie where Kapoor sisters will share the screen space.
